@@ilovetails123 The ATMs don't work sometimes and even worse the exchange rate is terrible, which can make your trip very expensive. Best to bring all cash and (non-US) cards only as backup

Should I change USA$ for the Cuban CUP at the airport? Or can I buy food, souvenirs and tours with US dollars?
You could get through your whole trip without ever exchanging money to Cuban pesos, just using USD. When you get change, for example at a restaurant, it will usually be in Cuban pesos and that way you can accumulate a few for small purchases or for giving tips. If you want to exchange money to Cuban pesos, do it at the black market rate. If you're staying in a casa, you can ask your staff or if you have a guide, ask your guide for recommendations. If you change at the official rate, your money is going to lose a lot of value.

Thanks for this! Only question, I have a little CPAP machine which is called an Air Mini (smaller travel version). It's worth approximately 1500 USD. Would I need to declare this? Maybe under this category: List of equipment and items (appliances and others) that you bring, which do not classify as miscellaneous ? But when you drop this menu down, there's nothing that says "medical device" or anything like that. So I'm not sure if I should choose "miscellaneous"? Then if I choose this, I'll have to declare the value, weight in KG etc... I'm also wondering if it's better for me to put it in stowed luggage, or bring it in a small carry on bag. It's really small, like size of a pencil case. The hose and mask take up more room than the mask. Thanks!
since you aren't leaving it in Cuba you don't need to declare it. They may want to know what it is but you shouldn't have any trouble. Put it in your hand luggage, in case your checked luggage gets lost.

You say to select Tourism for purpose even for US travelers, but wouldn't visit be safer? Tourism is not technically allowed, should the US ever see these forms.
The US won't see the forms, they belong to the Cuban government and if you select something other than tourism, you risk different scrutiny by the Cuban government

@@ga20904 This is just to arrive to Cuba. It is checked by the airline before you board and again in immigration once you arrive in Cuba.

Yeah 1 usd is 23 pesos? But then I see 1 usd is 150 pesos I dont get it
@@Antyoutube206 There are 3 rates going on, one is the official rate for some transactions which is 24:1, then the official rate for cash transactions is 120:1, then the black market rate fluctuates but is around 250:1 these days

@Cuban Adventures Cuba Tours I take $C's ( no loonies or toonies only bills) & some US $'s (single $ for tipping). This works for me at the resorts. US$ works off the resort. Don't exchange your $ for CUP.

I don't recommend anyone to go to Cuba, the whole country is like a war zone, at least in Habana you can see buildings falling everywhere. You can get a way better quality service anywhere in the world! You can even get a f***** bottle of water anywhere! If you decide to go, buy one of those "water purifier bottles" to filter the water you are drinking, take the bottle with you even if you go to a restaurant. Trust me you can get sick REALLY bad! Using credit cards in Cuba is a bad idea, MasterCard won't work over there! Internet is CRAZY EXPENSIVE! If you rent a car to travel the island, THINK TWICE, the existing roads have been partially destroyed, and they don't have money to fix them. Keep your passport safe, DO NOT TAKE IT WITH YOU! You either print a copy of it or carry your driver's license. Yes, Cuba is pretty, and the people are nice but I don't recommend anyone to travel to the island. It is a f****** parallel dimension! 😬
